Thoughts From a Belle

One of our lovely Belles wrote this moving article - enjoy!!

I would like to talk about the healing process for a minute. Whether you are healing from abuse, a trauma or are a recovering addict, I think that it is also important to try new things and step out of your comfort zone periodically. After my abusive marriage ended the divorce process was nasty. I was at home when I wasn't working, constantly depressed and surrounded by painful memories. A friend of mine encouraged me to try belly dancing with a local group in town called The Loveland Belly Belles. It was always something that I had wanted to try but was just always too embarrassed and self-conscious to do.

Thankfully she kicked my butt into going with her one night and I had an AMAZING time! The women were so accepting, caring and nice! There were women of all shapes and sizes, different backgrounds and life experiences but they all had one thing in common... these women were all comfortable within their own skin and not only loved themselves but enjoyed themselves as well! Their energy was contagious and soon I was hooked! I looked forward to going every Wednesday evening for practice.

Even though I didn't know the dance moves everyone was more than happy to have me try! After many weeks I started to feel more confident with my moves and in 6 months later gathered up my confidence for my first performance with these wonderful ladies. Shortly afterwards I discovered that the weekly donations through class and the money from performances is paid back to our community by donating the funds to local charities and non-profits! These wonderful women have helped out and donated to Treasures Reborn as well! They were a blessing with our first fundraiser!

Throughout my belly dancing experience I began to accept an love my body unconditionally which I had never done before! I had been building self-confidence and my self-worth as well! I am so thankful to the Loveland Belly Belles for helping me with my healing process! The impact you ladies have on others is truly a wonderful thing! THANK YOU!  Your unconditional love and acceptance has made a HUGE difference in my world! I love you all! If you are interested in joining this wonderful group of women I encourage you to follow the link below. We meet every Wednesday evening in Loveland from 7pm-8pm. Belly dancing may not be for you... but I promise there is something out there for you. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and find your new outlet, your new experience, your new passion! You might find a new YOU! 😃
